The kindergarten classes are participating in a multi week Halloween/monster match themed project. They created monsters and then helped write descriptions of them. Next week, they will be getting descriptions from another class (from a different school) about that class's monster to recreate it and that class will do the same with our descriptions. Finally, the classes will connect during a video conference and share their monster recreations.

The second graders spent Halloween morning building spooky spider "web" bridges in STEM.

Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour today. This small adjustment can make a big difference in maintaining a consistent schedule and getting enough rest. Remember to adjust any manual clocks in your home, including alarm clocks and kitchen appliances.

As we embrace the month of November, the Brocton Central School District is excited to announce that it is recognized as College and Career Development Month. This is an invaluable time for our students to explore their future pathways, cultivate their skills, and become more aware of the opportunities that await them after high school.
At the Brocton Central School District, we are committed to ensuring that every student is prepared for the next steps in their academic and career journeys. Our dedicated teachers and counseling staff have joined forces to create a collaborative environment where students can thrive. Mrs. Gomez's and Mrs. Marvin's 5th Graders visited the Buffalo Museum of Science last Thursday as a culminating field trip to their Space Unit! Students participated in a hands-on activity where they learned about constellations that appear during each season. They also got to see what our night sky looked like throughout the year. The day's events also included exploring the museum, and a visit to the rooftop Observatory, where students got to see a 360 degree view of the city of Buffalo. Students had such a great time and appreciate the district giving them this opportunity!

Halloween has arrived in the elementary STEM lab! We kicked off the start of spooky STEM week with a third grade engineering project that incorporated measurement and 3 D shapes. Students were challenged to build a free standing haunted house that measured at least 12 inches tall.

Today, October 28, 2025, is National First Responder Day! The Brocton Central School District would like to thank the Brocton Fire Department, the Portland Fire Department, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department, the New York State Police, the Office of Emergency Services, the Alstar Ambulance Services, and the surrounding local First Responders, including but not limited to Paramedics, EMTs, Firefighters, and Police Officers. We are thankful for the sacrifices of our brave First Responders who risk their own lives to protect the lives and property of our fellow citizens.

This October middle and high school students taking art had the opportunity to visit the Marion Art Gallery on the campus of SUNY Fredonia to see the exhibit Atlas- Historical Works and Recent Works of Alberto Rey. The exhibit highlighted Rey’s recent travels around the world through paintings, drawings and ceramics. Awarded SUNY Distinguished Professor for Research and Creative Activity, Rey is also an official Orvis Guide and made special visits to the gallery to meet BCS students, take questions and share his personal insights. Barbara Racker, the gallery director, provided each student with a catalog of the exhibit along with lunch at the campus cafe, Cranson Marche. Students also enjoyed visiting the campus bookstore. Visit the following links to see more of his work: https://albertorey.com/ and https://atlasalbertorey.weebly.com/

Both of these amazing individuals bring unique skills and a compassionate approach to their work, making a significant impact on the lives of our students every day. Their efforts encourage independence, build confidence, and enhance the overall quality of life for those they serve.
We thank them for the countless hours put into planning, implementing, and adapting interventions to suit the individual needs of our students. Their ability to see the potential in each child and to help them achieve their goals is truly commendable.
Their dedication, passion, and commitment to our students' well-being and success do not go unnoticed. Happy National Occupational Therapist Appreciation Day!
