The kindergarten has been learning about force and motion. As part of this unit, they explored how speed affects force by programming Ozobots to bowl. They explored how the different color codes change the speed of the robot and how the speed affects how the bowling pins are knocked down.

The first graders participated in a distance learning project centered around the book The Mitten. After reading the book, the students identified one animal to write clues about. On February 7th and 8th, each class had a video conference with schools from Long Island and Roscoe, NY. The classes learned about each other's schools, communities, and then shared their clues in a guess the animal from the book game.

Tomorrow is P.S. I Love You Day. We are excited to see purple spread throughout our school to stand up against bullying, help end depression and ultimately end suicide. 200 schools nationwide will be participating! We are hopeful that more love, kindness and connectedness will bring our school together as a family. Don't forget to wear purple for us, wear purple for the silent battles we can't see.

After listening to the story Newton and Me, a children's book on force and motion and how surfaces and incline affect speed, kindergarten learned more about force and motion through play. The students played games on different surfaces with a ball and then built devices to make a ball move faster or slower and change directions.
