From the desk of Jason Delcamp, Superintendent:

Good evening. This is Superintendent Jason Delcamp informing you of an update on our next Phase of re-opening. This update pertains to students in grades 6-12. Based on the current CDC and DOH guidelines requiring to maintain a six-foot social distance, the BCS Administration, Teachers, and the Board of Education have developed a plan to bring back students in grades 6-12 to four days a week of in-person instruction. We will be looking at two phases to accomplish this, Phase V and Phase VI.

Starting on Monday, March 22, 2021, Phase V will begin with students in grades 6-8 to return to in-person instruction four days a week.

Starting on Monday, March 29, 2021, Phase VI will begin with students in grades 9-12 to return to in-person instruction four days a week.

In order to precisely plan, we need our families of ALL students in grades 6-12 to complete a survey giving us further information. The survey will be electronic and posted below this letter. It will also be sent home with students in a paper format (if that is preferred). Students who attended school on Thursday and Friday this week will be sent home with a paper survey. Those attending school on Monday will be sent home with a paper copy of the survey. Paper surveys are to be returned to the High School office no later than Wednesday, March 10, 2021, in order for the district to plan new transportation routes, develop schedule changes, etc.

The survey will be asking how you want your child to receive instruction moving forward. Will your child be fully virtual or returning to school four days a week? The district is now only offering these two options. There will be no more Group A and Group B options.

Currently, we have a large number of full virtual students that need instructional support and time to specifically have access to their teachers of record for their courses. Wednesday will remain the district’s full-virtual day for all students in pK-12. This allows the district to support that group of students.

A parent Broadcast pertaining to the survey will go out on Thursday evening, Sunday evening, and again on Tuesday evening.

I will also be holding a community informational meeting on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at 5:30 pm via Google Meet to discuss the district's current plans and to answer any questions. The link to the Google Meet will be posted to the district website on Tuesday afternoon prior to the meeting.

In addition, the district is finalizing plans and needing facility modifications as per the Department of Health to tentatively reopen the Fitness Center to community members with a projected start date of May 1, 2021. Please monitor our website for updates.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work diligently to bring back our students safely and efficiently.
