• Teacher teaching math on chalkboard

    Accelerated Math:

The minimum goal for every fifth grader is 10 objectives each quarter. Students have the opportunity to complete AM at least once per week in school. All AM practices can be done at home (if you have internet access) through Renaissance Learning (the same as AR) as well as in school. Tests are still required to completed in class and every test gives students the opportunity to master 5 objectives (if they earn at least an 80% on each objective). No laptops will be going home, so this will only be allowed on your personal devices. It is your child's responsibility to ask for additional practices (and subsequently tests) to help achieve their quarterly goal. This will help teach them initiative and responsibility of their own grades. If you would like an update on your child's progress just send me a message and I'd be happy to print one out for you.

    Accelerated Reading:

Each student will set an individual reading goal for each marking period. The minimum goal for the fifth graders is 20 points. Since most grade level books are equivalent to 3-5 points, students need to be reading 4-7 books every 10 weeks. If you would like a monthly/quarterly update on your child's progress just send me a message and I'd be happy to print one out for you.
