• Classroom Objectives
     8th grade: Students will read a series of short stories, poems, and novels (including The Hunger Games, A Christmas Carol, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, To Kill a Mockingbird, a play adaptation of Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl, Inside Out & Back Again, and The Omnivore's Dilemma) in order to gain insight into the world they live in, in addition to the building blocks of storytelling, reading, and writing.
    9th Grade: Students will continue to develop skills from 8th grade with more short stories, poems, speeches, and novels (including The Hobbit, A Christmas Carol, To Kill a Mockingbird, Unbroken, The Merchant of Venice, and The Odyssey) in order to grow as readers and writers, learn the fundamentals of the storytelling process, and prepare themselves for reading and writing as enjoyment and as part of the modern world.
