Consolidation Study Report 
 
The Western New York Educational Service Council with the assistance of a 24 member Joint District Advisory Committee spent over 6 months studying the 2 school districts and their communities.  From this research and study, the WNYESC designed recommendations that were reviewed and approved by the New York State Commissioner of Education.  Here is their report on the consolidation of the Brocton Central School and Westfield School District:

MERGER STUDY
BETWEEN BROCTON CENTRAL SCHOOL AND WESTFIELD ACADEMY AND CENTRAL SCHOOL
 
The Brocton Central Board of Education  and the Westfield Academy Board of Education has approved of the Western NY Educational Service Council to conduct the merger study to see if is feasible for Brocton and Westfield to consolidate.  According to Commissioner Regulations this study must be completed before any attempt to consolidate school districts is possible. 
 
 
 
Ten members from each district were selected to serve on an advisory committee for the consolidation study.

Focus groups are used to gather particular information from various segments of the broad school community.  They begin with the conveners presenting current data about school enrollments, community demographics and similarities, and the current financial condition of the two districts.  Participants are then asked to respond to a series of questions.  A recorder at the sesion will capture the main ideas which will then be summarized for the consideration of the District Advisory Committee and Western New York Educational Service Council team.  This data will assist in the WNYESC's development of the report to the State Education Dept. and the Boards of Education , and will assist in informing the public of current district conditions.

    Use of School Facilities:  Any organization who wishes to use the school facilities must first contact the district office and fill out a form.  You can call the District Office at 716-792-2173.

    Please consider contributing to a scholarship 
     
    Any dollar amount would help a deserving senior to continue his/her education.  Consider contributing to either an existing scholarship fund or create one yourself. Brocton Central School Scholarships are held in trust by the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation.  To contriubute to an existing scholarship or create a new scholarship go to:  http://www.nccfoundation.org

  • WARNING-CAFETERIA CHARGES
     
    For the past several years Brocton Central School has been using a debit card system in the cafeteria.  This is a convenience
    to the parents as money can be deposited in the student's account in advance and parents don't have to worry about
    sending money with their children each day.  It assures parents that money is being spent on nutritious food at meal time.
    In our busy school cafeteria, this system moves the student through the serving line quickly while accurately counting student
    meals by type.  Everyone is given an ID card with a unique bar code which they must bring with them.  No one knows who
    receives free or reduced meals.
     
    Prepayment can be made at the registers, online at this website, or by sending a check to school.  Accounts can be viewed on
    the website by entering the student's ID number which is found on their cards.  Students are reminded daily of their account
    balance. 
     
    The system, however, is not intended to be used a credit system which means there is NO charging of any kind allowed.
    Money must be on the account before purchases are made.  Please be aware that your child may be denied a meal.
     
    There are several outstanding negative balances at this time.  If your child owes money, please pay up before school starts
    to avoid your child being denied to purchase anything from the cafeteria.
